Project name: Agriculture, Nutrition, and Gender Linkages (ANGeL)
Institutions: Bangladesh Ministry of Agriculture, International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI)
Country: Bangladesh
Description: The objective of this pilot study is to evaluate the impact of three alternative modalities – facilitating production of nutrient-rich food, conducting high quality behavior change communication, and undertaking gender sensitization activities – on nutrition outcomes and women’s empowerment.
Traditionally, nutrition training is limited to women, and agricultural extension messages are restricted to men. In this project, community nutrition workers will use Hellen Keller International's tool for gender sensitization activities (Nurturing Connections) to deliver trainings on food security, nutrition, asset control and decision-making, mobility, and income management. Government agricultural extension agents will also provide agricultural extension messaging and training to both men and women.
